Iranian Youth Cinema Society reported that ‘Zohal’ will compete along with 44 films from other countries, including Belgium, Italy, the UK, Germany, Romania, the US, South Africa and Hungary.
The film narrates the story of an Afghan girl who has been subjected to early marriage.
Mohammadpour’s film has bagged many awards at various Iranian festivals.
Positively Different Short Film Festival will take place on February 13-15 in Athens.
The festival is about “intersecting discriminations”, the event’s website reads.
“It follows complex paths aiming to give space to ‘invisible’ stories to be articulated and heard; stories of characters, persons and communities facing marginalization by social norms due to identities they carry,” it adds.
